Aside from orphaned babies not having access to formula, another main reason many children are put in orphanages in Haiti is that their parents can not afford to send them to school. Seeking to give their children a chance at a better life, they place them in orphanages to ensure they at least get an education.
We believe that the lack of the ability to pay for education should never be the reason a child is separated from their family, and so we created the education sponsorship program. Created especially with the children who graduate out of the formula & foster program in mind, we come alongside families to assist in sending their child to school.
Adonaïka was the first baby in our formula program & is the first child in our education sponsorship program. Haiti has 3 levels of kindergarten & she started level 1 in 2019 at 2.5 years old. She is a bright little girl & is learning by leaps & bounds!
Junie was born April 24, 2019. She originally started in our formula program, than lived in our foster home for over a year. She has been blessed with a wonderful Haitian couple that have now taken her in as their own.
Love Meline was born in April 2019. Her mama passed away when she was a few months old. With help from Justice Flowing, Love Meline & her 2 sisters are thriving with their daddy in their home in the mountains.
Jazline lives with her aunt & her cousins since the death of her mama. They live in a little village at the bottom of a mountain range.
Migelson was born December 24th, 2020. His mother passed away 10 days later. His aunt took him in as her first child.
Claire Nancy was born March 2020. Her mother passed away shortly after her birth from an unexplained illness. She lives with her mom’s sister.
Doudley was born October 26. His mother passed away of eclampsia, leaving behind 3 children. Doudley was taken in by a young cousin of his mama, who is raising him as her own, with the help of her own mother. His siblings went to an aunt's house.
Pierre Lensky was born November 10, 2020. His mother was very young, & passed away from an illness when he was a month old. Pierre Lensky lives with his grandpa and his mother’s sisters.
Djoulie Keïsha was born January 3, 2021. Her mom passed away a week after she was born. She’s now living with her mother’s sister.
Love was born in February 2021. Her mother passed away after giving birth. She spent months not being properly taken care of & almost passed away of malnutrition. One of her family members put her in the care of a tenant of a house he rents out, & she is doing her very best to raise Love well.
Rose Gaëlle was born February 2021. Her mother passed away when she was a couple months old. She is currently living with an aunt.
Many children in Haiti are placed into orphanages because their families cannot afford an education for them. School is not free in Haiti, & the expenses of uniforms, school & testing fees, & books is more than many people are capable of paying. Desperate for their children to get an education, an orphanage often seems to be their only option.
We partner with existing schools in areas where children are most at risk, & provide sponsorships that cover school fees so that these children can get an education while staying with their families.
We believe (and studies show) that getting an education is vital to improving the lives of children & the next generation.
